Bootha Yagna is love and care for all living beings and the Earth - growing Trees, feeding animals and birds, saving energy, organic farming, reducing pollution, etc. Its all about being a totally responsible human being in terms of nature and its creations. .
We grow lots of trees in our farm and encourage our fellow villagers to do the same. We feed animals & birds. We co-exist with a variety of animal and bird species. We feed them with food and water. We raise a range of pets - dogs/cows/turkeys/pigeons. We take good care of them in terms of feeding and healthcare. We maintain an organic farm where we use natural fertilizers (cow dung and neem leaves) and natural pesticides (neem oil, turmeric, etc.).
Pithru Yagnam is serving or offering prayers to our ancestors. Every human being owes to his parents his body as they nourished him right from his birth. Hence its the duty of every human being to take care of not only his parents but also all elderly people of the society. Water is the element associated with Pithru yagna through which we offer prayers to our ancestors.
We perform a lot of old age home activities for aged people by providing food, clothes and medicines. Taking good care and respecting ones parents and elders is a major duty for all of us. It is also very important to serve elders who are in need of our help. Water is the means through which we offer prayers to our forefathers. Getting the blessings of elders is equivalent to getting blessings from our forefathers. We have extended our support to a lot of old age homes in terms of feeding the elderly, offering clothes and medicines, providing them walking sticks & necessary furniture, etc. Blessings from elders is blessings from our ancestors.
Deva Yagnam is the expressing our gratitude to our deities (Devas) through prayers by visiting temples, churches or mosque. The medium through which we worship God is fire. Fire is the light and light is truth which leads us to ultimate reality "The God". Fire is the messenger who transmits our offerings to God Almighty.
Agnihothra is a form of fire sacrifice that can be performed on a daily basis. Fire stays apart from other elements in one quality that it will never get polluted. Agnihothram is a process by which we use fire to cleanse our environment. We use cow dung and ghee in Agnihotharm. Cow dungs smoke has capability of cleansing the environment and prevents global warming, which has been scientifically proved. We are all familiar with the Bhopal Gas tragedy which happened in night of December 3, 1984. Many innocent people lost their life because of the toxic gas leaked from union carbide. However, all those performing daily Agnihotra in Bhopal were safe.We perform daily rituals to God Almighty and transmits his blessings to the entire world. We also perform regular yagnam, agnihothram and various spiritual rituals related to fire.
This yagnam provides an opportunity for us to acknowledge and be aware of our responsibilities towards the development and empowerment of the underprivileged sections of our society. The main motive of this Yagna is to contribute a portion of our earnings for charity and social services to underprivileged sections of our society. By this yagnam we experience "The Joy of Giving".
We should treat the entire globe as our homeland. All mankind in this globe are our brothers and sisters. We should assume that we are a member of this universal family. The devotion which we imbibe through this will inculcate good thoughts among us. This service would help us understand that the god as almighty dwells in everybody?s heart and all are one. Though we have different bodies we emit from and end in the same entity - The Almighty.
Like all the elements comes from sky and unites in the sky which is the gateway to the heaven.,the four elements(Earth, Water, Fire and Air) also unite in sky. The four yagnam unites in brahma yagnam (self-realization). So this yagnam is associated to sky. "SHIVOHAM" is the slogan of this yagnam. By performing brahma yagnam we will be free from all the sins and will be eligible for ultimate bliss and happiness.
We need to show reverence and gratitude to our gurus and their teachings in form of vedic science. It is with their teachings in form of ancient vedic science that we can uplift our self. Brahma yagnam is the means by which we can express our gratitude to our guru and vedic science.Yagna has a wider meaning as well. Any good act performed by us for the welfare of others without expecting its outcome may be called 'YAGNA'. One should appreciate and understand Yagnas and perform all of them. By understanding the real sense of yagna, we make our life as yagna which results in ultimate happiness.
These Pancha Maha Yagnas are the 5 Pillars of Shivoham. Each of this Yagnas has its own benefits and helps in our progress. These daily duties would, not only bring progress and improvement in the life of an individual but it will also produce happiness, joy and peace in the society at large and the whole Universe as a whole.
